Is S-line spec worth the extra on an Audi A3

Audi A3 S-Line, driving, front, red and white
The Audi A3 is available in sporty S-Line specification

I have an Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Sport and am thinking of moving to an A3 Sportback with the same engine. Will there be any noticeable difference in performance? Also, I’m not keen on Sport trim in the A3 (wheels, interior upholstery etc). Is the S-Line worth the extra money? DE, Richmond

New Car Advice says: The 1.4-litre petrol engine in the A1 Sport is less powerful than the unit in the A3 Sport, so the latter will actually deliver stronger performance despite being a bigger, heavier car. S-line spec (pictured) features larger alloy wheels (18-inch rather than 17-inch) and lowered sports suspension, which is a combination that give a much firmer ride than Sport models. If you want S-line for the wheels and seats, it might also be worth opting for the standard suspension (called Dynamic) as a no-cost option.
